Unfortunately, the number of quality films dealing with subject of Latin American identity and struggles in the 20th and 21st centuries are slim. However, there are a few gems that do exist. When it comes to the subject of attempting to discover the true identity of Latin America, no film does a better job, in my opinion than Walter Salles' 2004 film The Motorcycle Diaries. Unfortunately, there are also few films that to a candid and honestly look into the world of the drug trade, and attempts to investigate answers as to the nature of the trade and who's involved in it. One film that does do a masterful job of this, however, is Joshua Marston's 2004 revelation Maria Full of Grace. For my money, Maria Full of Grace is the best film of the decade dealing with Latin American themes of struggle. You can view both trailers below.Monday, April 20, 2009

the motorcyle diaries does sound good, and it'll give insight to more than one lifestyle, a more broad-based film. and, not to make fun but to just state a fact, have you ever reccomended a movie that doesn' involve a worls crisis? like i sais, not to make fun because i do think your suggestions are helpfull to understanding, but i do want to know...
Maria full of grace is a great movie that shows the reality of latin america and drug dealing through what ever methods possible to tarde drugs. Its sad how women take part in theses actions but its the truth when you dont have a job or money to eat.
Maria Full of Grace sounds like a good movie to watch to understand what anyone would do in order to get money to feed themselves.
I really want to see Maria Full of Grace. It looks like a good representation of what exactly people are going through in Latin America with problems of supporting a family.
Maria full of grace looked like an intense movie. It looked like it had suspense as well as fictional insight.
