Through our discussions in this class regarding South Asian politics, we all know very well now that Pakistan is a member of the "Nuke 9." Therein lies the reason that so many globally are becoming increasingly concerned over the Taliban's incursions into Pakistan. With their entrance into Pakistan's Swat Valley, the Taliban is literally within 100 miles of Islamabad the capital, yes within 100 miles of taking Pakistan's nuclear supply. Keep in mind the Taliban is the same group that housed al-Qaeda in Afghanistan and funded and supported the attacks of 9/11. Yes, this Taliban is now edging ever closer to taking down the Pakistani government and their weapons arsenal. Pakistan (and its Nuclear Arsenal) in Grave Danger?

This is a little scary to think that if the people of Pakistan don't want an American alliance then the Taleban could have the possibility to gain nuclear warfare, which would be bad for us obviously. Hopefully we are able to work out these relations soon
OMG...so a possibility of Nuclear World War 3 is rising...
wow this is definately bad for us if Taliban did gain nuclear weapons.. and all of the countries of the "nuc 9"!! If another world war did start, dang i don't want to think about the consequences!
just to think about their nuclear power scares me pretty bad. i dont want anymore nuclear wars. i personally dont want to experience one first handed.
dang, well i hope nothing happens. we dont need another nuclear war. Hopefully Pakistan will get involved and help because it said that we can't do it without them. and then there are also thousands of people fleeing the area and having to go to refugee camps.
ok so this is kinda like the cold war revisited with the fear of nuclear power. or am i wrong? If the Taleban drop a nuc on us then wouldnt the ENTIRE world go to war again? this really is a sucky situtation...
thats scary that the people who are responsible for the 9/11 attack are so close to getting nuclear weapons. one nuke in the united states and it means the end of the world because most if ot all the nuke nine will be in the fight.
its hard to believe that a nuclear war could wipe everyone of the globe!
Now what would that do?
This is definitely a very delicate and dangerous situation. We need to do everything we can to stop the Taliban from getting their hands on nuclear weapons. I hope that aid package for Pakistan gets approved.
the u.s. has impeded so many times on other countries business, but i think they have gotten to the point where they cannot let this one slide.
Prill, what do you think the Taliban would do first once they got their hands on Pakistan's nukes? It's sad that these people have to flee their own country because of the fighting and damage its doing to citizen life. Do you think the Taliban would try to become the government if they took over? These are very baffling thoughts..
This is a very tight and tense situation that the Pakistani government has to deal with. The Taliban have been known to be quite militant which makes the situation a little scarier. The citizens of the Swat Valley are being held hostage and when they have the chance to flee, they are often separated from their families. But the gunfire isn't the only problem. Because the markets are being shut down, the citizens are facing a food shortage. And because the valley is a great spot for guerilla warfare, the situation could be drawn out.
oh myyy. i really don't like the thought of a WWIII. but somedays it seems like we just keep going downhill and that it'll be inevitable.
i really don't like seeing the refugees either. i don't know, it's just very uncomforting to see all those people having to leave their homes for fighting that is not even necessary.
I can't believe that the Taliban is soooo close to getting nuclear weapons! If they funded the terrorist group that attacked the US on 9/11, I don't want to even have to consider the goals they may have after attaining these weapons. They probably have the same thoughts as al-Qaeda. If they use these weapons, nuclear war could break out blowing up the planet.
Yeah so it sucks for us that they dont want an alliance with us cuz they can do a lot of things to us for revenge or whatever.. and i really hope there is no nucleur war cuz i would be freaked out!!!
This looks very dangerous. It is obvious from your other post that things have gotten much worse since then.
