Seriously?! This dude codified Roman law, built up Constantinople, and partly restored western territories. How Justinian won worst leader is beyond me. Perhaps it was Mr. P's telling of the Nika rebellion in which he said Justinian crying in a corner.

hey mr. prill i just wanted to comment on todays lecture. i had no idea that guns would be the emerging stars. and when u started talking about how just pulling a trigger could end someone's or something's life it really made me think about how our version of normal isnt really normal at all.
sooo... Aladdin... the disney version? thats pitiful... please tell me there's another version that i havent seen that DOESN'T have a genie in it.

thats so lame. if everyone had the chance to actually watch mongol, im sure it would of had a million more votes then aladdin. that movie has so many hidden dirty comments anywayss. and those comments are worse then any sex scene!
what Mr. P what was the first society to come up with a democracy...if it wasn't Athens, Greece?
miss beck, the athenians are the first to develop the term and idea. in truth though, true democracy has never been put into use, because it is too idealistic to every be fully implemented with imperfect humans running the show. communism is the same way, there has never been a truly functioning communist society either, it's too utopian.

Byzantine wasn't honestly the best economic system...Song China, although militarily and politically weak, remember was culturally and economically powerful! Which is why they could afford to start expeditions after Mongol rule subsided...They had BANK!
Aladdin won? seriously? It may be a Disney Classic, but it was extremely historically inaccurate, the guy talked to a monkey, a parrot and a genie(He obviously had mental problems), and it had musical numbers in it...
I won't deny Song China cultural contributions, but if contributions means influencing other societies, not their own, through cultural characteristics, I think the Arabs hit that one with the spread of Islam and Islamic practices...That, or Byzantine, cause there's no Russia without the Byzantines...either would be better in my opinion...
Ibn Khaldun wouldn't be my first choice...especially for influential...Ibn Batutta or Marco Polo probably deserve it more...
Most Influential Person...Chingis Khan...if running a horde of Mongols around the Eurasian continent to take hold of other socities and rule them is influence, then he's got that category in the bag...But I honestly think Muhammad, because he started the spread of Islam, deserves this title...
Mongols weren't extremely influential once again, except for the spread of disease and military technologies and strategies...That's about it...So they'd be an acceptable winner based on how you take the word "influential"...

Its weird how the Byzantine's got the award for best government, while their most famous ruler, Justinian, was voted for worst leader. How does that work out? Think peeps before you vote...
i still think its funny that the byzantine empire won the best government just bc of the first person that commented on the blog. lol and same with the worst leader.
Um im kinda late getting on to the blog lateley so this is coming as somewhat of a surprise. I don't think the worst invention is gunpowder. Only because it wasn't used for weapons when it first came out. With that said would it have even been possible to prevent such a thing from being invented. I think not.
ha i think it's kind of funny how people were copying other peoples votes....and it was a little sad that a lot of people didn't vote. I wonder if more people had voted we would have gotten a different outcome?
I was surprised with the outcome and also when i was helping out with the votes i was surprised by some of the choices! When are the next whappey awards?
